He finishes 10th out of 23 at the Manhattan Chess Days Open. He earns a provisional rating of 606.
November 2005 Wins his first scholastic chess tournament at the Bronx Chess Days Open.
February 2006 Rating increases to 958 as Josh goes undefeated and wins the NSCF Greenwich
Winter Chess Tournament.
May 2006 Rating increases to 1142 as Josh goes undefeated and wins the NSCF Ridgeway Tournament.
September 2006 Enters third grade at Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School in White Plains, New York. Celebrates his 8th birthday.

August 2007 8-year-old Joshua travels to Sturbridge, Massachusetts to compete in the Continental Chess Open. He enters the "Under 1500" section and wins. He wins his first adult tournament.

December 2008 Joshua leads his elementary school team (Mamaroneck Avenue School) in winning the 2008 National Team Championship in the 5th Grade Division in Orlando, Florida.

March 2009 Joshua goes undefeated and wins the 2009 Westchester County Chess Championships. His rating reaches 1976.
May 2009 Joshua becomes a certified Chess Expert at his USCF rating surpasses 2000.

November 2009 Josh travels to Chicago for the 2009 National Youth Chess Championships. Joshua wins the national championship in the K9 section. He also wins the national championship in the K12 Blitz section.

January 2010 Joshua ties for first place in the 2010 NYC Scholastic Chess Championships. He competes in the "Junior High Varsity" section.

March 2010 Leads the White Plains Middle School Chess Team in winning the 2010 Westchester County Scholastic Team Chess Championship.

June 2011 Joshua is invited to the elite Garry Kasparov Master Chess Camp in NYC. The former world chess champion analyzes several of Joshua's games.

August 2011 Joshua is invited to attend the prestigious US Chess School in Charlotte, NC. Only the strongest players in the country are considered for enrollment. A free week-long training camp taught by the nation's top grandmasters.

March 2016 Joshua's USCF rating peaks at 2490 after a strong showing at the 2016 Philadelphia Open. He is 17 years old and a senior at White Plains High School.
July 2016 Joshua earns his second IM Norm at the 44th Annual World Open in Philadelphia.
September 2016 Joshua starts college at Webster University in St. Louis. He accepts a full chess scholarship and joins the top-ranked collegiate Chess Team in the nation.
April 2017 Joshua earns his third (and final) IM Norm at the Clark Street Capital Grandmaster Invitational in Chicago.
May 2017 US Chess Federation Officials complete application for Joshua Colas to be titled an International Chess Master (elect).
December 2018 Joshua now in his junior year at Webster University. The Webster University Chess Team wins the 2018 Pan American Intercollegiate Team Chess Championship. They have won the title every year since 2012 and continue their reign as the most successful collegiate chess team in the nation.
July 2019 Joshua heads to Spain to compete in the 39th Open Villa de Benasque Tourney.
July 2019 Joshua continues his European chess tour with a stop in the Czech Republic to compete in the Czech Open in Pardubice.
June 2020 Joshua graduates from Webster University.
